ABOUT US

Founded in 1979, the Maryland Academy of Physician Assistants (MdAPA) is the officially chartered chapter for physician assistants (PAs) in Maryland, and for the American Academy of Physician Associates (AAPA). Similar to other AAPA state chapters, MdAPA is part of a nationwide network. Our organization and its members are devoted to representing, promoting, and advocating for PAs and patients. AAPA provides our members with the opportunity to serve and represent Maryland on the AAPA House of Delegates, and develop national strategies and policies for our profession.

By way of our overlapping principles and close geographical location, MdAPA strongly supports and partners with AAPA, as well as theNational Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). As with any professional society, the Academy’s strength lies in its membership. Historically, several MdAPA members have held executive board positions (including President) with AAPA and NCCPA.

MdAPA members fiercely promote and strongly represent the PA profession by focusing on providing and improving healthcare quality; advocating for statewide support of PAs; and striving for health equity for all.

*MdAPA is a non-profit, 501c6 organization and managed by a number of dedicated, volunteer PAs along with a paid association management staff.
